Camera Oscura - one of the few darkrooms of it’s kind left. Where antique printing meets modern processes.
NEWS.
Founded in 1994 by Andrea Mosso and myself, Camera Oscura began as a space to learn, experiment, and share our love for photography. While I moved to the US to pursue a career in fashion photography, Andrea has continued to run Camera Oscura, mastering the craft of fine printing and becoming one of the few remaining experts in antique alternative processes such as platinum, palladium, gum bichromate, and other unique printing techniques. Photographer, professor, master printer, and the inventor of the Amoss process—a proprietary image transfer method that blends modern digital photography with traditional analog image manipulation techniques.
During my recent trip to Rome, we decided to have some fun with the Amoss process and worked on a few of my images. While we would typically print on paper, we experimented with a gold-painted wood block, demonstrating that this technique can be applied to virtually any surface—wood, glass, walls, and more.
For 30 years, Camera Oscura has served as a vibrant hub, connecting some of the world's most prominent photographers while also nurturing emerging talent.
Much like Rome itself, Camera Oscura is a place where the old and new intersect, creating a dynamic space of continuous discovery.
30 years on and Camera Oscura is still buzzing with young creative talent!
